Training Regulatory Requirements

Regulatory requirements for the purchase and handling of CFCs is addressed under the ODS Regulations 2000, published by the Government of India. Although you are not required to register with a local authority, the dealers from whom you buy refrigerants, especially CFC refrigerants are required to be registered. Please ensure that the refrigerant that you purchase has been legally procured.

Phase-out dates for consumption of CFCs
Appliance manufacturers in India have phased out the use of CFCs in the production of all refrigeration equipment since December 2003. All new refrigeration appliances therefore use alternative refrigerants.

The following graph shows the percentage of CFC production which the Indian Government has agreed to reduce between now and the phase-out date of January 2010.
